. Building the Wheel In order to understand a wheel in motion, imagine rolling and the stress on the top and bottom of the wheel, bearing the weight, as it rolls. An exaggerated picture would be that of an egg in movement. This continuing process is, cyclic loading and unloading. If the wheel has been built with the correct process, it will stay true and tight during the intended use.

Accompanying each wheel, is a (building specification) sheet that documents factors that are key to the integrity of the wheel. Initial assembly includes lubrication and pre stressing. Factors that follow, establish standards for assembly. Offset: centering or measurement to disc or drum point within .020 max Radial run out: exclusive of the seam in the rim, should not exceed .020 Lateral run out: should not exceed .015 Spoke tension: checked in for places each side, within 10% of key tension KGF Standards applied to your specific wheel, and the building technicians are verified on the building specification sheet. BEWARE of disclaimers or lack of knowledge concerning the building of your wheels. Take note of an actual tag found on a new wheel for sale, In another shop.
